On chain social media owned by no one and regulated by no one.
- DeSo (Decentralized Social) is a Layer-1 blockchain built specifically for social media. Unlike other networks that use a hybrid approach, DeSo stores every post, like, and follow directly on its own blockchain. https://diamondapp.com/browse?feedTab=Hot
- Lens Protocol (The "User-Owned Graph"), social graph built on Polygon/ZKsync. Instead of the platform owning your followers, you own your followers as "follow-NFTs." https://hey.xyz/
- Farcaster (The "High-Signal" Choice), "decentralized Twitter" among developers and thinkers. It uses a hybrid model: your identity is on-chain (Optimism/Ethereum), but your messages live on a decentralized network of "Hubs." https://farcaster.xyz
- Nostr, not on-chain (it uses "relays" instead of a blockchain), Nostr is the one you probably actually want if "ungovernable text" is the goal.
These try and replace messaging apps, bridges allow you to use your own app and servers but the message is relayed to foreign server and the digital hostage. Not all have bridges. You pefer social media and messaging apps that are unowned, such as onchain.
- Matrix + Bridges, if you want to "make" something similar to Beeper, you use the Matrix protocol. This is the tech that powers Beeper under the hood. The Stack: You set up a Matrix "Home Server" (using software like Synapse) and install a bridge called mautrix-whatsapp. Why do this? This is the ultimate "privacy-first" move. You own the server and the data. Your contacts see you as "online" on WhatsApp, but you are actually using a completely different, decentralized app.

- OpenChat Full Blockchain Replacing Telegram Absolute (On-Chain)
