Cell options

Options go directly after the opening pipe of a cell, in this order: style letters, then a space, then the column span, optionally a comma and the row span, then the cell text.

• h header cell
• l or r align the text left or right
• t or b align the text to the top or bottom of the cell
• a number is the number of columns the cell spans, for example |2 text|
• a comma and a number is the number of rows the cell spans, for example |,2 text|
• both together, for example |3,2 text|

The letters can be combined, for example hr is a right-aligned header cell.

Numbers in cells

Digits at the start of a cell (after the optional style letters) are read as a column span. A cell written as | 100 USD | or |r 4.50| therefore does not show what you typed. Put a non-breaking space in front of the number:

Writing some text before the number also works, for example USD 4.50.

Links in cells

Links are written the usual way, even though they contain a pipe themselves.

Other things to watch out for

• Options must touch the pipe. Write |r red and not | r red. With a space in front, the r is shown as text.
• A first word made only of the small letters h, l, r, t and b is read as style letters. Start the cell with another character if you need such a word.
• Showing table syntax on a page. Anything that looks like a table row is turned into a table, even inside a pre block. To show the raw text, write the first pipe of each line as ^| as it is done in the examples above.
• A table inside an html block is left alone.
