Home Security
The first thing to think about when getting on site is the security audit.
What is sold in stores won't work.
- take a note of all doors and windows and permanently remove any all un-necessary doors and windows. Use a welder to permanently close off these points.
- replace glass windows with plexiglass, 15 times stronger than glass.
- prefer mosquito windows covers with screw in permanent types and not removable ones.
- small windows must be wind open handle types that open just enough for air but not enough for human access. Like this: https://windows-west.ca/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/IMG_1321-1536x2048.webp
- grid in clear fishing wire in between 2 layers of insect or mosquito screens for windows otherwise add bars to windows. To meet local laws some open from the inside in an emergency but not from the outside. Like this: https://crimsafe.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Crimsafena-fixedwindow-sideimage2-1200800.jpg or https://art-metal.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/1-2.jpg
- tin snip proof all the locks
- all your outdoor locks are useless, do not use bike chains or combination keyboxes, use thick gauge steel chains that require grinders or large bolt cutters and quality thick locks. Probably 8mm heavy duty steel chain.
- all your outdoor locks are useless, throw your locks in the bin and get 2 thick steel plates with a hole in each for the padlock to pass through, weld one to the door and the other to the building and run a quality lock between the two, opt for the center of the door. If you cannot weld the plate then you need to make an L plate where the vertical L slips inside the building and the door and the horizontal part of L is outside, so that you get ][ this design. The guages must exceed human force, perhaps Abloy PL362 is a padlock to get.. Like this: https://chatgpt.com/s/m_6825b3b648448191af3382c68c548973
- fromt door and rear door steel security gates are essential, be careful of design failures. Like this: https://www.knasecurity.com.au/
- Lighting is essential, sensor lights and indoor lights.
Longer term solutions are hidden camera's, baiting, trackers and "bait and track" to learn who in area is doing it and where do they live.
