Testimonial, great result with Amoxicillin-Clavulanate, 1 tablet twice a day for 10 days. Pay attention of the nuance that some anti-biotics are more effective than others for different symptoms. For instance Amoxicillin-Clavulanate for stomach pains, perhaps Doxycycline for respiratory.

Condition Recommended Antibiotic 2026 Resistance Warning
Severe Diarrhea Azithromycin Do NOT use Ciprofloxacin; resistance is too high.
Sinus/Bronchitis Augmentin (High dose) Avoid Amoxicillin alone; 2/3 of strains produce enzymes that kill it.
Skin Infections Clindamycin or Cephalexin Watch for MRSA (S. aureus), which is common in urban VN.
Rural Fever Doxycycline Covers potential Leptospirosis from water exposure.

We do not have anything for viruses. For parasites, usual single dose Mebendazole is recommended.

Pets

  • Do not let them drink the local water, buy them bottled water with a pinch of salt.
  • If you are using pet day care, educate them that foreign dogs cannot handle the local water and provide them with bottled water.
  • Fully vaccinate before arrival.

Recommend monthly: NexGard Spectra

In extreme cases stop the NexGard and do Bravecto for 2 months for mange type conditions. If conditions persist, you might need anti-biotics Amoxicillin-Clavulanate or Doxycycline.
